France put in a great performance against Iceland – value profit in their Euro 2016 odds in the betting tip
France finished their group in first place above Switzerland, Albania and Romania and eliminated Ireland 2-1 in a tough and narrow Round of 16 match thanks to two great goals from Antoine Griezmann. France faced newcomers Iceland in the quarter-finals and their fairytale came to an end as France cruised into a semi-final against Germany with a blistering first-half performance. Oliver Giroud took the lead in the 12th minute and Pogba, Payet and Griezmann extended the lead to 4-0 before the half-time whistle. Iceland increased the pressure in the second half and scored two goals to lead France to an emphatic 5-2 victory. Now Les Bleus will face a tough test against World Cup winners Germany who have conceded only one goal in the entire tournament. Both sides faced each other in the 2014 World Cup quarter-finals which Germany won 1-0 and in an international friendly in November. It remains to be seen if France can make it to the finals with the support from their fans.
Germany have beaten their bogey team Italy – Hummels, Khedira and Gomez will miss the match
Germany finished their group as group winners above Poland, Northern Ireland and Ukraine and defeated a strong Slovakian side 3-0 in the Ro16. Germany have then reached the semi-finals by defeating their bogey team Italy 6-5 on penalties after their quarter-final match finished 1-1. It was a tough match in which Mesut Oezil scored the lead in the 65th minute. Jerome Boateng leapt up in the box to put both hands up and Italy were given a penalty. Up stepped Leonardo Bonucci who dispatched the penalty in a calm manner and put it at the right-hand bottom corner. The game went to penalty kicks and Germany missed three penalties yet still triumphed over Italy in an exciting shoot-out at the end of a draining match. It was Jonas Hector who fired Germany into the Euro 2016 semi-finals at Italy’s expense after an epic round of 18 penalty kicks. Germany coach Joachim Loew will miss Mario Gomez and Sami Khedira who have suffered injury against Italy. Mats Hummels will also miss the match due to a yellow-card suspension. Captain Bastian Schweinsteiger is a question mark ahead of the semi-final match against France.
