The 2016 Formula One Russian Grand Prix is due to take place on 01 May 2016. The race will be the fourth round of the 2016 season and marks the fifth running of the Russian Grand Prix. After three races, Nico Rosberg leads the Drivers’ Championship and is the favorite in the betting tip. Qualifying and race both will be underway at 1 p.m.
Rosberg has history on his side as he aims for maiden world title – Hamilton in second place in betting tip
Nico Rosberg may have never won a Formula One World Championship, but the ease in which he has dominated the first three races of the season tells the German driver his dreams could yet become reality in 2016. Last season, Hamilton won his third Drivers’ Championship with three races to go, before Nico Rosberg upped his performance to win the three remaining Grand Prix races. Rosberg finally finished in second place 59 points behind Hamilton but this season things are different. The German has won the opening three races to open up a 36-point lead in the championship, while luckless Hamilton is without a victory since the US GP. The history is on Nico Rosberg’s side because no driver has ever won six Grands Prix in a row or the opening three races in a season and not won the championship. Behind the Silver Arrows the battle is extremely close with Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull, 36 points), who finished the first three races in fourth place, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari, 33 points) and Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari, 28 points).
Tight battle behind the Silver Arrows – Rosberg is the favourite in the betting tip
Let’s take a deeper look at what is worth betting on this particular weekend but there are qualifying battles fought before the race. Unsurprisingly, the two Mercedes drivers are leading the way in terms of betting odds for winning the Russian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton is ahead with odds from 2.10 to 2.25, while his teammate Nico Rosberg got odds between 2.00 and 2.30. Interestingly enough, the rest of the drivers are way behind in terms of odds. The next hopeful is Sebastian Vettel with odds between 6.00 and 7.00 as he proved that he can separate the two Mercedes drivers when he took second place in the Chinese Grand Prix despite a first-corner collision.
Betting tip for the Russian Grand Prix
Nico Rosberg has the form while Lewis Hamilton is the current title holder. Rosberg has won the opening three races this season and another victory would extend his lead in the standings to more than 40 points. It would also mean he becomes the first driver to win 18 grands prix without securing a world championship and for that reason, taking into consideration the qualifying results, we expect a fourth consecutive Nico Rosberg victory at best odds of 2.30.
